Jon Napper BSc Eng (Hons) — Managing Director + Owner

Graduated in 1976 with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering through an undergraduate apprenticeship with BICC Ltd.

Jon joined TransXL i n 1977 and took the business over in 1992. He has overseen the growth of the site from 14,000sq ft to over 35,000sq ft of buildings and facilities today, all freehold owned.

With over 3 decades of buying and selling in the plastic industry, Jon has channelled his knowledge into our bespoke database business solution “e-quipu”.

Jon’s wife Sue was a key player during the takeover period, handling all the administration, accounts and recruitment for many years. Sue is also a keen motorcyclist with her own 100HP machine!

Hobbies: Motorcycling, squash, indoor football, cycling, walking, gardening, fast cars. Supports Norwich City Football Club.

Dream: Motorcycle North to South America, tip to tip!

Bruce Hayllar B.Eng (Hons) M.Sc. — Operations Manager

Responsible for Engineering, Workshop, Site Facilities and Computer Systems.

Bruce joined TransXL in 1994 after over 20 years in the Aerospace and Automotive industries. He has served an undergraduate apprenticeship with Rolls Royce Aero Engines, obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering Science at Liverpool University and later read Digital Systems at Brunel University. Since 1994 he has enjoyed over 10 years of repairing and refurbishing plastics processing machinery.

Hobbies: With four children (almost) off his hands he is more able to pursue his other interests in walking, cycling and travel.

Jon Smith BA (Hons) — Sales & Marketing Manager

Qualifications—Honours Degree in Marketing and Engineering - 10m swimming badge (1976)

Jon Smith joined TransXL in 1995 and has been in the polymer industry since 1989. Jon is responsible for the day to day running of the Sales and Marketing, has over 15 years experience in the plastics industry, and has travelled to every continent buying and selling for TransXL.

Hobbies: Squash, tennis, golf, running, keeping fit, climbing, completed his first Triathlon

Tim Wrighton — Sales Executive

Tim Joined the company in 1997. Tim has over 13 years experience in the plastic industry gaining a unique working knowledge of many different processes.

As well as selling, Tim is a key part of the team responsible for purchasing millions £ of machinery for stock.

Tim is married to Christine and has 4 children (3 boys 1 girl).

Hobbies: Golf, DIY & Motorcycling (when not babysitting).

Steve Hobbs — Support Supervisor

Steve joined TransXL in 1985 as a fitter and has built up a wealth of experience having worked on many hundreds of different types of plastics machinery . He is now responsible for all workshop purchasing and day to day running, as well as technical support.

Hobbies: Actively supporting his son’s music & university careers, DIY & Grandad!

Lisa Townsend — Administrator

Lisa joined TransXL in 1995, as well as answering your calls she covers a wide range of job titles: Administrator , Receptionist/Secretary, Accounts, Marketing and Sales Assistant. Also has her work cut out keeping the lads in order!

Hobbies: Not many, Son and Daughter taking any spare time! walking, cycling, avoiding
football as much as possible!
