Over the past couple of weeks, the TransXL team has successfully completed the relocation of a full sheet line from a factory in Germany to a customer in the UK — and it was far from a straightforward job.
The scale of the challenge became clear early on. The 3-roll stack alone measured 3,100mm high by 3,200mm wide, meaning walls had to be removed just to get it out of the building. Cooling rolls were stripped down, a low loader was organised for the oversized components, and four additional trucks were needed to transport the remaining parts of the line.
On the heavy lift side, a 10-ton forklift was hired in, and a 100-ton crane was brought to site specifically to load the extruder — which came in at approximately 12 tons.
A huge thank you goes out to our UK-based sub-contractor team — a small, family run operation who did a brilliant job removing and loading the equipment in Germany. Thanks also to the team at the German factory for their support and cooperation throughout the project.
